Civil Engineer (P. Eng.)/ Project Manager

About the Company

Cyril J. Demeyere Limited (CJDL) is a well-established consulting engineering firm founded in 1963, specializing in municipal engineering for both private developers and local municipalities. With extensive experience in land development and urban road reconstruction, CJDL is known for delivering high-quality solutions involving sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain infrastructure.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Project Manager / Civil Engineer with a strong background in land development and municipal engineering. This individual will lead the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects, working closely with internal teams, clients, contractors, and municipal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will manage projects from concept through construction, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of civil engineering projects, including infrastructure renewal, subdivision servicing, site grading, sewer and watermain design, and stormwater management.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to project teams including engineers, EITs, and technologists.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, municipalities, and regulatory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, reports, and designs.
  • Perform site inspections to monitor progress and ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Analyze survey data, blueprints, and topographic/geologic information for project planning.
  • Evaluate the environmental and sustainability impact of proposed projects.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and documentation.
  • Coordinate tendering and bidding processes for public and private sector clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff and support their technical development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or registered EIT close to obtaining licensure.
  • CETs with 10+ years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal or land development engineering.
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering practices, infrastructure design, and land development processes.
  • Proven leadership and project management abilities.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Civil 3D an asset).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.

Civil Engineering/Survey Technologist

About the Company

Established in 1963, Cyril J. Demeyere Limited is a Consulting Engineering firm that specializes in municipal engineering works for both private developers and local municipalities. CJDL has extensive experience in land development and in road reconstruction where the scope of work includes replacement of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermain

The scope of this role includes: Performing a variety of engineering design and field duties under the direction of a Senior Engineer and/or Senior Technologist. Projects will include infrastructure renewal, topographic survey, new subdivision servicing, and site/lot development/grading plans. Field survey and on-site construction inspection will be required.

The Opportunity: Currently, CJDL has an immediate opening for a Civil Engineering/Survey Technologist at our Tillsonburg office. This is a full-time position with a well-established firm.

What it takes:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. A Certified Engineering Technologist designation is an asset
  • Driver’s License Class G required with access to a vehicle
  • Experience operating Total Stations and GPS survey equipment including familiarity with topographic and construction surveys
  • Relevant experience working with municipalities, developers and contractors is preferred
  • Ability to interpret, read and comprehend engineering and construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is required
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationships
  • Ability to traverse rough terrain, carry survey equipment and supplies and install stakes will be required at times
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • The ideal candidate will enjoy splitting time between on-site survey and in-office with CAD drafting and base plan generation.
  • Candidates with an education and/or background in Civil Engineering Technology are ideally suited for this position – designation as EIT or P.Eng is not required
